Sharon Pelusio

President, Mantis Medical Compliance Group

About me

The foundation of Sharon's career started in the Air Force working in Avionic Communication. Here is where her technical background began. Sharon was educated in electro-mechanical engineering specific to Avionic Communication systems where she excelled. After her military career, Sharon earned her degree in Electronics Engineering Technology at ITT Technical Institute in Englewood, CO. Post graduation Sharon relocated to upstate NY where she began her career as a biomedical equipment technician at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, NY. Under the mentorship of Martina Stockmaster, former head of the Biomedical Engineering program at Monroe Community College.

In her 9 years, the health system experienced many changes including a move to Unity Health and merging with Park Ridge Hospital. Years ahead of the industry, their focus was on regulatory guidelines in medical equipment management in the Environment of Care. Over the years she attended many service schools and grew in education and experience in the industry.

In her next career phase she worked at De-tec Incorporated where she specialized in anesthesia systems for both North American Drager and Datex Ohmeda (GEHC). There she received over 23 certifications in various anesthesia systems services. After 5 years Sharon accepted a position as a site manager for TriMedx at Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Brockport. Sharon worked as a site manager in biomedical engineering as well as a Supervisor/Team Leader for the Upstate NY division overseeing staffed locations in Upstate NY from Niagara Falls, Lewiston, Springville, Newfane, and Lockport. With a passion for regulatory compliance, Sharon was diligent in implementing programs that were compliant with the regulatory guidelines at these facilities. The Joint Commission was the primary focus.

Later, she became the Regional Manager for the Northeast Division of Modern Medical Systems. She acquired further education through Villanova University in Business Administration during this time. Her passion for regulatory compliance inspired her to create and implement a program used by over 20 biomedical engineering departments in hospitals throughout the NYC metro area and in Michigan. Her experience and expertise in regulatory compliance were critical in the management of these programs. Sharon became the director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance for Modern Medical prior to joining the team at Medical Arts Support Corporation.

In 2008 she started the upstate NY division of field service biomedical engineering at Medical Arts Support Corporation based out of Long Island, NY. For 9 years, she built the region from Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, and throughout the Southern Tier. She managed the regulatory compliance for multiple surgery centers and other accredited facilities. She was established as a leader in compliance management with Life Safety, CMS, DOH, TJC, AAAHC, and AAAASF. Sharon’s track record of success in upstate NY was second to none.

In 2017 she decided it was time to make a change. The decision was driven by her passion for compliance and dedication to quality service and patient safety for the customers in New York. She knew that she could create an even better environment of care across the region by implementing new programs that would increase customer satisfaction through better documentation and a closed loop process of compliance. Her goal was to outperform all her competitors in the region in quality, compliance, documentation, patient safety, and customer satisfaction.

In February 2017 Mantis Medical Equipment Service LLC was launched and soon became Mantis Medical Compliance Group. Sharon converted 100% of the region to this organization which has proven success rates. Her commitment to compliance with regulatory guidelines is second to none, while her team maintains the highest level of customer focus impeccably. The documentation and reporting are customizable and have proven to be superior. When customers undergo compliance surveys and inspections, they have peace of mind in knowing that everything is in order with their medical devices. The program just works. Mantis is diligent in setting-up customer- focused programs to meet the specific needs of each facility. It is not “one size fits all” as the needs of each customer are unique and individual. There is a partnership with clients majoring on the details in compliance needs as well as budgetary guidelines. The “Mantis Assured” program allows customers to experience worry-free equipment audits. Mantis stays current with continual industry changes in CMS, DOH, and all regulatory guidelines while providing assurance in medical device management for all valued clients.

In January 2020 Mantis Medical Compliance Group became certified Veteran Owned Small Business!
