Senior Director of Healthcare Technology Management, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare
Jeremy Cook is the Senior Director of Healthcare Technology Management at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. Jeremy has been with Methodist Le Bonheur for more than 24 years. During his career, he has held various roles, including Biomedical Technician, Biomed Department Supervisor, Director of Clinical Engineering, and Senior Director of Technical Supply Chain with continued responsibility for Clinical Engineering, and Capital Asset Management and Medical Device Service Contracting.
Early in Jeremy’s career as Biomed Department Supervisor, Methodist Healthcare was reviewing cost reduction initiatives, and the COO proposed outsourcing Clinical Engineering. Jeremy knew there had to be a better option, and researched outsourcing alternatives then presented management with a cost reduction plan of his own. After further review, management approved his plan over several third-party options, and during a 3-year probationary period, Jeremy was able to show substantial cost savings for the health system.
Since 2002, he has lead several in-sourcing initiatives within Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare to include the following: Anesthesia Systems, Steam & Plasma Sterilization, Surgical Lasers, Respiratory Ventilators, Balloon Pumps, Dialysis Systems, Apheresis Units, Surgical Navigation Systems, Robotic Surgical Systems, Perfusion Systems, Surgical Instrument Maintenance, Laparoscopic Instrument Maintenance, Pharmacy Distribution Cabinets, Diagnostic Ultrasound, RAD & R&F rooms, Analog & Digital Portable X-Ray, C-Arms & O-Arms, Cath & Interventional Labs, Nuclear Medicine Systems, CT Scanners, MRI Scanners, Interventional MRI, & Linear Accelerators.
Jeremy’s in-sourcing initiatives have saved his organization over $6 million a year in operation cost reductions, all of this without a shared service contract with OEMs. Jeremy & his team accomplished this through trial and error with various levels of success, and in a few cases, failure.
After 24 years, Jeremy still has a passion for his job, and he believes that everything we do in HTM is extremely important, and every day has a direct impact on patient care.
In the current healthcare environment, HTM departments face increased pressure to do more...
